How to Play MKV on Samsung Galaxy S?

Does Samsung Galaxy S natively play MKV files? The answer is not absolute. For reason that MKV is just a container format which can contain unlimited number of video, audio and subtitle tracks. It can contain various codec, and only a small subset of MKV codec the Samsung Galaxy S can play. The phone support following video playback: MPEG4, H.263, H.264, DivX, XviD, WMV, AVI, 3GP, Flash Video. Thus, MKV file in above codec can play on Samsung Galaxy S. MKV in other codec are not compatible with the phone, like MPEG2. That’s why some MKV files can be played with Samsung Galaxy S, some just can’t.

For MKV files not compatible with Galaxy S, you can convert them to the phone supported formats like H.264 MP4. Following content will show you how to do that.

Get MKV Converter:

1-Mouse click the add icon to import the MKV videos you want to convert to the program. Click “File” in top menu to add video folder for batch conversion.

If you would like to check the detail attributes about your source MKV files, right-click the file to check “Media information”.

2-Output Set. Click the “Profile” icon to opt for the target format. It is suggest to choose MP4 format in H.264 or MPEG4 codec.

For more advanced video/audio settings, please click the icon after profile, some related general options are adjustable: quality, video codec, bit rate, aspect ratio, audio codec…

3-Optional to Edit video. Click on “Edit” to customize output as you requirement: crop, trim, effect and watermark.

4-Convert MKV to Galaxy S. Back to main interface, start the conversion process by just clicking the “Convert” button.
