How to Import MKV Files to Windows Movie Maker for Editing?

Perhaps you’ve been using WMM to edit WMV and AVI clips, but now I’d like to find a way to import higher quality MKV files without needing to convert them to WMV and AVI, losing quality in the conversion. Is there a way to import MKV files into Windows Movie Maker?

There is no way to import MKV files into Windows Movie Maker. WMM not support any high quality MKV/Blu-ray/ISO etc. The only to import the MKV files in will to convert MKV to WMM compatible formats. Or you may get other video editor which work with MKV and other HQ/HD videos.

Download MKV Converter first: 

1-Run MKV Converter, click  to load video files or directly drag & drop into program. Batch conversion are supported, try to import multiple files at a time.

2-Choose profile. Choose “WMV-Windows Media Video (*.wmv)” as output format.

Click the button beside profile go to settings to configure the output parameters: video codec, quality, video size, bit rate, channels and more.

P.S. If you would like to remain original MKV video quality, right click on the file, check “Media Information” and remember the video/audio parameters, set so in output video settings.
