How to Get MKV to Samsung TV?

“I have a strange issue I need some help on. I bought a new Samsung TV recently. It can recognize my NAS drive and play AVI & MP4 files but it will not play MKV.”

If you have just the same problem with this guy, this post may help you work it out.

A. Samsung TVs don’t stream MKVs natively over the network, however if you rename the files to .avi and they will play. This method requires a reliable network infrastructure in your home. Yet, there will be some problems in this way: it still doesn’t work for some model of Samsung TV like D8000, the TV keep saying “It doesn’t supported video data”; sometimes, renamed file works, however, the video will constantly have to “Loading”, for example play 1080p MKV movies on Samsung 6 series. If you are meeting above problems, then you can try out next method.

B. This way may take more energy and time. That will be performing video conversion. Get a MKV converter, switch MKV files to Samsung TV supported formats, like AVI. It will take more time, but you will not get issues as above. Simple guide for converting MKV to Samsung TV as follows:

-Download MKV to Samsung TV converter.

-Run it and add MKV files into it. Click on “File” to load video folder, batch conversions are supported.

-Click on “Profile” to choose format for output. Pick one AVI profile. Please pay attention to video size, select proper one as per your TV: 1080p, 720p, 640p and more.
